GOLD STRIKE HOSTS THE SPRING POKER CLASSIC
$2,500 Buy-In Main Event Brings Top Players to Tunica for First Tournament in 2009 Series
TUNICA, Miss. - Feb. 19, 2009 - Poker action returns to MGM MIRAGE's Gold Strike Casino Resort in Tunica with the Spring Poker Classic March 5-March 16. Nineteen tournament events will be spread out over twelve action-filled days with buy-ins from $100 up to $2,500 for the Spring Poker Classic Championship Event on March 15. In addition, there will be daily No-Limit Hold'em Tournaments, $175 buy-in + $25 entry fee Nightly Tournaments, $270 + $30 Mega Satellites and Super Satellites, with buy-ins ranging from $45-$450, each day.
"The Spring Poker Classic is the first of five major poker events we host at our MGM MIRAGE Mississippi resorts each year" said George P. Corchis, Jr., president and chief operating officer of MGM MIRAGE's Mississippi Operations, which includes Gold Strike Casino Resort in Tunica and Beau Rivage in Biloxi. "In addition to the prize money, the winner of the Spring Poker Championship Event ($2,500 buy-in +$100 entry fee) will win a $5,150 seat in the World Poker Open Championship Event scheduled to take place at Gold Strike in August 2009."
Women from across the country will come to Gold Strike to play in the popular Ladies International Poker Series (LIPS) No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournaments. Tournaments are scheduled for Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8. Each tournament begins at 11 a.m. and has a $200 buy in + $35 entry fee.
Spring Poker Classic registration begins on March 5 and is open from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. daily. Players participating in the Spring Poker Classic will receive a $59 room rate.
